Hi, I’m Carlene.

Hello there. How are you doing? How is your day? Where are you from? What’s it like there?

I’m Carlene. My author name is Carlene Love which is just my first and middle name. My days usually go well. I have worked hard the past few years and have learned for the most part how to keep myself in a positive and good place mentally and emotionally. I’m human, so I naturally experience ups and downs, but I’ve learned to find the balance between those spaces. A few things that work as wonderful mood boosters for me are practicing kundalini yoga, listening to music, dancing around my home, going for walks, looking at art and listening to my imagination.

I’m from San Diego. I love San Diego. However I currently do not live there. Currently, my family and I are on a year-long RV trip as we try to visit every state in the US. The picture at the top was taken this past September in Yellowstone National Park which has been our favorite destination so far. As I write this, we are enjoying a couple of weeks in the French Quarter. It doesn’t take long to appreciate what a special city New Orleans is. I can see why so many are inspired from their time spent here, and I think it will be the same for me. Smile.

I am a writer by trade, having put my first book out in 2013. Those first nine books were published through a wonderful, steamy romance publisher called Evernight. Most romance novels can be classified by their heat levels and although Evernight’s brand celebrates the hotter content, they graciously provide my stories a nice home. I think the reason those books fit nicely at Evernight is because while they aren’t as explicit as far as love scenes go, the story lines are edgier and darker. Nowadays I’m self-publishing my books. It is a full-time job for sure, but I like that. It gives me a chance to use not just my writing skills, but the others I enjoy too. I love editing, working on promotional art and blurbs, updating my website pages, and uploading the files to all the book retailers. Of course I don’t do everything on my own, which I also like. Getting to collaborate with others fulfills that “teamwork” feel I truly enjoy. Merry at Anessa Books is such a wonderful and creative person, and she is my life saver when it comes to formatting. She takes my word documents and turns them into beautiful, stylized pieces of art ready to be sent out into the world. I’ve also worked with some very talented artists for my book covers. I can’t say enough how much I love getting to seek people out and see what they come up with for the covers.

My newest release comes out in five days on January 31, 2022! It’s a collection of twelve stories and it is called The Misplaced Mermaids. It’s got a little bit of everything … a Harry Styles fan-fiction, a granddaughter and seafaring grandpa story that will touch your heart, a magical fantasy holiday tale, and lots more. I think that’s me in a nutshell. A full-time writer living and working from her RV with her family and pets as we travel the country. That family being a husband, a dog, two cats and two hamsters. Visiting our son at college in Arizona whenever the road takes us out that way.
