WAYV IS GOING ON TOUR!

Back in January of this year, I wrote a post introducing you to WayV (my favorite band) and how I felt they were on the cusp of going on their first Concert Tour. You can read that post HERE. At that time, nothing was official. Just the millions of WayV fans around the world (affectionately called WayZenNi by the band members) wondering if their favorite band would ever get to go on tour and the guys doing their best to keep fans’ spirits up. They’ve done such a great job under the circumstances, to which I applaud them. Due to the pandemic and other issues beyond the band’s control, WayV have to date, released 10 projects ranging from Extended Plays to Full Albums, but not toured. That discography consists of:

2019: The Vision. Take Off. Take Over The Moon.

2020: Take Over The Moon The Sequel. Awaken The World.

2021: Kick Back.

2022: Phantom.

2023: On My Youth.

2024: Give Me That. The Highest.

This is a rarity, for sure! Their contemporaries regularly tour with each album. Thankfully, WayV have performed some of their songs at ensemble concerts with record label mates and at as many music festivals as they possibly can, doing whatever it takes to get out and meet their fans. So, we are very thankful for that. I treasure the one and only time they have come to the US. Last year’s KCON in Los Angeles was unforgettable. They sang 3 songs and during their super global megahit, “Love Talk”, the entire arena sang along with them! WayV was shocked at the outpouring of love. I was in the sea of people singing and smiling.

My video of WayV performing “Love Talk” at KCON-LA, Aug. 18, 2023.

But … we need a full WayV concert. One that is all WayV’s.

I have good news!!!

WayV … are … kicking … off… their first CONCERT TOUR this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, they will begin in Nagoya, Japan and then make their way to the Chinese cities of Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Nanjing, before returning to Japan for Kobe and Tokyo dates. The next stops bring them to Jakarta, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong and Macau. These dates take them all the way into February of 2025.

As of yet, there has been no announcement of shows beyond the Asia region, however I am a big believer in WayV and their team. I think they are doing their best and that more countries and dates are indeed On The Way.

This weekend I watched a video of one of WayV’s members who had recently taken to his livestreaming channel to chat with fans. At one point, Xiaojun remarked that in the six years since he’d debuted with the band, he’d gone to see many concerts by other artists and thinking about it now, he wondered what would make WayV’s concert special and unique. His thoughtful answer was that because of the circumstances of WayV having put out so much music but not toured, WayV’s concerts will be very nostalgic for everyone involved. Band members and fans alike have been waiting for this for so long, it’s truly going to be special and unforgettable.

Xiaojun, I could not agree more!

I hope everyone going to the Asia leg of the On The Way Tour has a concert experience that will stay with them forever. For the band themselves and their entire team who have worked hard, stayed the course, and delivered absolute top-level music for us to enjoy, I hope you fully get to see the impact your music has made on the world! The world loves WayV!! We are so happy to finally get to see you shine as you were always meant to do. Good luck, guys!

I promise to update you again as soon as the rest of WayV’s inaugural On The Way Tour dates and cities are released. Until then, the guys have been dropping hints of the setlist. If you’re new to WayV, here are those songs. Check them out, I think you just might become a WayZenNi in time to catch them on tour:

Take Off

Might As Well

After Midnight

Action Figure

Love Talk

Thank you for taking the time to read this article today. One of my favorite WayV songs is called “Miracle”. I’ll close with a bit from that song…

“Resonance and empathy, infinite in design. Empathizing with people, don’t care what difference, we equal. We come together when the record hit the needle, oh-yah….I believe in Miracles.”

Me too, WayV. Me too.
