I crush hard on romance novel heroes and I know you do too. Which is why I’m inviting special guest authors and their heroes to select and answer two questions for us. The questions come from a list I designed to dip into what really lies underneath all that strapping, heroic yumminess. Today’s guest author is a dear friend of mine and fellow Waterworld Mermaid sister, Miss Loni Lynne! One thing I love about doing these hero interviews is the vast difference in the guys. You’ll see what I mean as you read on. Please give a warm welcome to Loni and her immortal, brooding hero, Mike. I wonder what Mike is willing to share…
Loni Lynne: Folks, my hero, Mike Linder is a bit of a recluse. An immortal, having been turned during a bloody battle in Vietnam. He has a lot of angst and horrors deep inside that are darker than the immortality he now lives with.
But I have managed to coerce him from his dark, hidden sanctuary…briefly.
Aww, Mike, hugs from all of us reading, and thank you, xoxoxo.
Loni Lynne: Mike, I know you don’t really want to be here so I’ll be gentle. What is your favorite song and why?
Mike Linder: (scoffing, slouches in metal folding chair, arms folded) Really? What kind of lame ass question is that? This isn’t the Dating Game, Loni.
Loni Lynne: (Rolling her eyes) Just answer the question.
Mike Linder: Fine. Favorite song? Mornin’ by Al Jarraeu
Loni Lynne: Al Jarraeu? The Jazz singer from the 8o’s? Why him and why that song in particular?
Mike Linder: (Shrugging) I like his music—it’s mellow, soothing. And the song, it brings to light something I can never see again… Mornings.
Loni Lynne: (Uncomfortable) Um…yes. Of course. Good song. I like it, too. (Gathers herself) Okay, what about the scariest movie you ever saw?
Mike Linder: Saving Private Ryan—I can’t watch that movie anymore…or any war movies that depict—you know, forget it. It doesn’t matter…
Loni Lynne: Whoa, wait…it does matter. I understand, you lost a lot during Vietnam.
Mike Linder: You have no idea and I don’t want to get into it. (Snarls)
Loni Lynne: Okay, you don’t have to. How about this question: When was the last time you missed the chance to say something to someone and what kept you from saying it?
Mike Linder: (Quiet/brooding) You know damn well the answer to that. It’s eaten at my soul for months—I’ve wanted to tell Tina Johnston how much I love her…but I can’t…no, I won’t. She needs a mortal man who can give her happiness and a life. As much as I need her—God you are a pain in the ass! Why not pour acid in my open wounds…(curses violently, gets up from chair) I’m outta here. This interview is over.
Loni Lynne: Sorry folks, I think I might have pushed too far. Mike is dealing with his past demons and fighting his present demons that he’ll never get over. He’s a bit too touchy. But I do know how much he loves Tina Johnston and wishes she could be a part of his life…forever, if only he could move on from the nightmares of his past.
You can visit Mike and Tina in the novella, Immortal Wounds and the upcoming novel, Immortal Angel. Maybe you might be able to get Mike to open up more…
All the best,
Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone…
Vietnam never stopped for Mike Linder—and it never will. As an immortal being, Mike is doomed to face his issues of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder he suffered in combat for eternity. The darkness in the seventy year old vampire is swept away by the sweet spirited Christina Johnston who he is called upon by his boss to protect from clan enemies. But keeping his sunshine around would only lead to extinguishing her light, permanently.
His Sunshine…His Only Sunshine…
Tina Johnston always believes the glass is half full. The eternal optimist, she wants to help Mike find the peace from his horrors of war and she believes she’s the one to give it to him. Unfortunately, Mike won’t let her. Haunted by his past and suffering terrors mixed with his present, is she strong enough to endure his tortured past? Can she heal his Immortal Wounds?
There’s so much more to Mr. Mike … get to exploring, won’t you? And at 99 cents, such a deal:
Paranormal romance author by day (from 7am-3pm) and domestic manager the rest of her hours, Loni Lynne enjoys bringing fantasy to life. She watches as her characters take control of the story and interprets their lives onto her laptop.
When she’s not working (either as author or domestic manager) she enjoys baking and cooking Gluten-Free, hanging with her husband, (sometimes in remote locations like Germany) and spending time with her two young adult daughters as they explore life on their own. She hates to admit it but her TBR pile of books is growing faster than she can keep up. But hopes for some downtime, once in awhile, to enjoy.
Life has offered Loni a wonderful journey from her youth, her time in the United States Navy and twenty-five plus years with the man she calls hubby. So many experiences, twists and turns, have led her to this moment in time. She is a believer in letting God and Fate take you where you need to be…no matter how odd it seems. Sometimes you just have to… Believe in Fate.
