Welcome back to Mid Week Tease!
So sorry I was a bit absent last week from the teasing rounds. Trying to write a novel in one month is kicking my tail! I think I have my act together now and I can’t wait to sample everyone’s offerings. Picking up where I left off a couple weeks ago from The Never Seeker, here is more from guardian angel, Chase’s story. Sandra Bunino, you rock our socks! Thanks for organizing us each week for the tease. Sexy kisses, xoxoxoxo.
“Drew,” he seemed to bite out. “I’m sorry,” he said as he gently laid her down and withdrew the arms that had just saved her from the most terrifying dream yet.
When he was across the room, she said to his back, “Don’t go.”
After a long pause, she noticed that his body shook. Not like someone hiding their crying, but like something had seized him and was shaking him by the shoulders.
“Leave now. She is mine to protect. I promised.” The voice was that of the ghost man who’d been quietly visiting her for as long as she could remember. This would be so less frightening if she knew why.
Her head hurt and she wanted to crawl up and bury herself away from this madness but she had to know what Chase would say to this guy now that someone had faltered and they were in the room together.
Chase looked at her and blinked long and slow. His dark lashes warmed her from the inside out. He was so much more than handsome. At that thought, she could swear his face blanked.
Over the top of the ghost, he spoke to her.
“Drew, this is Lang. The night you were born, he was a paramedic attending to a dying pregnant woman in the street when he delivered her baby, passed it to his partner in the ambulance and then was struck by a passing vehicle and killed. That woman was your mother and you her baby girl. He has never passed to the other side because he believes he must stay to protect you.”
“From what, exactly?”
That’s my tease this week!
